Preparation:
In the build up to our screening event, we made a list of jobs that needed to be completed and allocated them fairly around our group. I was given the job of receptionist which meant my main roles were to greet people on the day, direct people to where they needed to sit and set up for our after party. I also decided to help out in the preparation by working with the programmers to set up the timetable for the day.
Over a few sessions, each member of team was able to contribute to the day equally. We then decided to hold a rehearsal of each film to see it on a cinema screen for the first time. So the film was handed to the screen projectionist, while that was being set up the comperes were practicing going through the script. Fortunately, all went smoothly and we all felt confident about our up coming screening.
The Day:
We all arrived early to begin the set up for our screening. Myself and the other receptionists were ready to greet our family and friends to hand them a program, feedback sheet and guide them to the cinema.
The screening itself went well. Both of the films were well received and the event flowed well through Q&As and a music performance. We finished a little earlier than expected so we extended the Q&A to the audience for everyone to ask questions about the film production and all our ideas.
After, we all attended an after party where we were able to thank our tutors, course leader and our crews. It was a nice way to end the course.
