In our first session, we were introduced to our team and brief. Then by participating in a full on physical workshop lead by comedy actress and writer Seda Yidiz, we begun to build the foundation of our working relationships. The activities were primarily based on physical comedy and timing, particularly focusing on ‘why is this actually funny?’.
Each activity appeared to be drawing a parallel with crucial lessons from the film industry. For example, keeping a ball up in the air, however the same person couldn’t touch the ball twice in a row meaning that everyone had to take part. This was symbolic of how everyone has to remain dedicated and passionate in order for a project to succeed. Additionally, everyone had to participate as not just one person could keep it afloat: it’s a team effort.

Overall, it was a fun and engaging opportunity to start to become aware of the team that I would later work with to produce our final project. It was a particularly useful as an introduction to working in comedy.
